WHAT IS ENVIRONMENT?

Is it a game we can play? A dress we can wear? Or a friend with whom we can share everything?

Environment is everything which surrounds us. Directly or indirectly, we learn many things from the environment. One can understand the depth of environment by feeling it, knowing it and experiencing it.

Why is it smashing?

A famous dialogue from movie of Salman Khan Jai Ho is related to this situation

"APNA KAAM BANTA BHAAD MAI JAE JANTA"

Yes, absolutely correct! We are only left with this attitude.

We take many things from Mother Nature due to our greed without thinking about its repercussions.

We fulfil our greed, and in spite of saving our environment from destruction, we are recklessly harming it for the same.

MAIN REASONS:-

1. DEFORESTATION

People cut down trees for fulfilling their needs. The number of trees have reduced to a considerable extent that it has caused deforestation in our country. Most of the green lands have turned into barren ones. The trees which clean the environment, provide oxygen and maintain ecological balance are now very less in number.

2. CHEMICAL EFFLUENTS

The harmful products used by industries, which releases chemicals creating pollution and causing harm to aquatic life, are also a major source for environmental degradation.

3. UNNECESSARY CONSTRUCTION

Construction causes removal of vegetative cover, which usually allows for better exchange of heat. Many trees are cut down and the wood from the same is used for construction, which in turn is spoiling the environment.

4. OVER POPULATIONTRUCTION

Rapid population growth puts strain on natural resources, which results in degradation of our environment. More population means more demand for food, clothes and shelter. This results in deforestation, which is another factor of environmental degradation.

SOME UNEXPECTED OUTCOMES

1. IMPACT ON HUMAN HEALTH

Human health might be at the receiving end as a result of the environmental degradation. Millions of people are known to have died due to indirect effects of air pollution.

2. LOSS OF BIODIVERSITY

Biodiversity is important for maintaining balance of the ecosystem in the forms of combating pollution, restoring nutrients etc.

3. OZONE LAYER DEPLETION

Ozone layer is responsible for protecting the Earth from harmful ultraviolet rays. The presence of CFCs, hydro CFCs, etc. in the atmosphere leads to the depletion of ozone layer. As it depletes, it will send harmful ultraviolet radiations to the Earth.

4. ECONOMIC IMPACT

The huge cost that a country may have to bear due to environmental degradation can have big economic impact in terms of restoration of green cover. The economic impact can also be in terms of loss in the tourism industry.

5. GLOBAL WARMING

Change in climate and increase in green house gases are the major causes of global warming, due to which increase in temperature is observed.

RESULTS OF GLOBAL WARMING

1. Melting of glaciers
2. Rise in temperature
3. Rise in water level
4. Floods and other natural disasters

ITS IMPORTANCE

1. Importance in an ecosystem
2. Maintaining balance in food chain
3. Providing useful poroducts - water- medicines-clothing-wood-fossil fuels
4. Maintaining quality of air and preventing disasters

WHAT ARE WE DOING TO THIS ENVIRONMENT?

* Destruction
* Wasting of water
* Wasting its resources
* Borrowing resources from future generation
* Polluting water
* Killing plants and animals
* Leaving a barren land for future generation
* Leading to scarcity of resources

WHAT WE CAN DO?

Our planet is the most important thing in all of our lives, regardless of who we are. Preventing environmental degradation is a journey that we should all take part in.

CERTAIN STEPS:

* Follow the Principle of Reduce,  Refuse, Reuse and Recycle
* Green Transportation
* Aforestation
* Solid Waste Management
* Harvesting of Rainwater to meet Water Requirements
* Secondary Treatment by Biological Process
* Cleaning the Air by Natural and Artificial Methods

IT IS NOT MINE, NOT YOURS

IT IS OURS

PROTECT THE MOTHER NATURE WHO NOURISHES YOU

SAVE ENVIRONMENT. SAVE LIFE.
