Empowering Women through the Sui Dhaga Unit at AIM Foundation
At AIM Foundation, we believe in creating pathways for women to achieve independence and self-sufficiency. One of the most impactful ways we do this is through our Sui Dhaga Unit at the Kolkata Activity Centre, located at Sarala Punyashram. This initiative offers women the opportunity to learn and perfect the art of sewing and stitching, providing them not only with a valuable skill but also a sense of empowerment and purpose.
The Sui Dhaga Unit is more than just a sewing center; it is a space where women can come together, build confidence, and foster a sense of community. The training provided goes beyond teaching basic stitching techniques, focusing on equipping women with skills to turn their craft into a sustainable livelihood. Through this unit, we aim to create opportunities for women to support themselves and their families through their own hard work and creativity.
In addition to hands-on training in sewing, the Sui Dhaga Unit emphasizes the importance of digital literacy. Participants are taught how to use online platforms to showcase and sell their handmade products. This opens up access to a global marketplace, allowing these women to reach customers far beyond their local communities.
To further enhance their business potential, we provide communication skills training to help participants effectively engage with customers, manage online sales, and build successful businesses. This holistic approach helps women gain the confidence and skills they need to thrive in a digital economy, and ultimately, build a better future for themselves.
At AIM Foundation, we believe that by empowering women with knowledge, skills, and opportunities, we can create a ripple effect that leads to lasting change. The Sui Dhaga Unit is just one example of how we’re working to build a more self-reliant, resilient, and empowered community of women.
